Padre António Vieira Panel
An emergency intervention was completed on the tile panel in honor of Father António Vieira, in Lisbon. The panel was in the process of being detached and was raised for treatment of the support, cleaning and laying. Tiles Panel by Master Ceramist Relvas
Another intervention has been completed. This time the lifting, conservation, restoration and conditioning of a 1994, manually produced tile panel, by the Master Ceramist José David Esteves (Relvas). The tile panel represents kids playing activities and belonged to the facade of a daycare center. This work was commissioned by the Municipality of Coruche.
Stolen Lord’s Pattern – Stone Materials
This week the intervention for the conservation and restoration of stone elements in the pattern of Senhor Roubado at Odivelas was concluded. This second phase of intervention complemented the settlement of the replica of the Standard, dignifying its framing and ensuring that the set will remain in function for many more years.
Eduardo Nery’s Tiles Panel
We’ve entered the final phase of the conservation and restoration intervention of the exuberant tile panel by Eduardo Nery, which appears on the facade of the Pharmacy Museum building. Very soon it will be possible to revisit it in its immense golden splendor.
Ludovice’s Palace
Integrated in the rehabilitation project of the Ludovice Palace, our team started conservation and restoration of stone elements, tiled walls, wooden spans and mural paintings of this which is one of the most important ensembles in the history of Lisbon’s urban architecture.
Vila Maria Pia
The rehabilitation of this eclectic Chalet is ongoing. Designed by architects Rosendo Carvalheira and Luís d’Ávila, built in the 19th century, the following construction / decorative techniques are among its elements of heritage interest: stonework; carpentry; functional and decorative exterior plasters; decorative painting; decorative plaster; metallic structures; hydraulic mosaic and pargeting surfaces. Conservação ao Quadrado has rolled up its sleeves and is making this project happen.
English Convent
The contract for the conservation and restoration of this set of tile coverings is underway. This is 20th century tiles in imitation of 18th century figurative tiles. The tiles are currently for desalination.
Santarém Municipal Market
Since last August, C2 is working on the decorative elements found on the main building of the Santarém market. These include tile panels, stone elements and wood frames found on individual stores, which will be restored in the coming months.
Golden Panel Eduardo Nery – ANF
C2 has recently finished conservation work on the genuine golden ceramic panel found on ANF – Pharmaceutical National Association in the heart of Lisbon. The panel, which was idealized by the Portuguese plastic artist Eduardo Nery in 1995 and produced by Aleluia Cerâmicas, was a kinetic art approach, mimetizing the archictural cadency of the building by having pure gold false windows inside a rhythmic kinetic colored patterns.
Águas de Caneças Fountain
In late 2021, C2 finnished the conservation work on the iconic Caneças water fountain. This fountain supplied quality water to all of Lisbon. This intervention has already won an architectural award of Best Archello Projects of 2021. The conservation work consisted in the reconstruction of all the decorative plaster ceiling using traditional technics, the conservation of the low reliefs ceramic panels, water tanks and the beautiful cement arcades. It lasted 8 months and involved twelve technical personnel. More info here.
Entroncamento train station
During late 2020, C2 finished conservation work on the Entroncamento train station. It consisted on the conservation of 71 ceramic panels from the early 30’s. These panels which were produced by now closed Portuguese Sacavém ceramic factory had the famous “pó de pedra” tiles. – Stone dust tiles, which no one produces anymore.
Vilar Formoso train station
The Vilar Formoso train station is currently being restored. The iconic train station, and one of the most embellished train stations of Portugal, is decorated with dozens of beautiful tile panels portraying bucolic scenery and famous national monuments on Portuguese cities. The work involves the conservation work on all the tile panels and the cleaning of the building masonry. The famous “welcome to Portugal” panel will also be recovered. This project will last four months and will count on eight technicians.
Memorial monument of Odivelas convent
During 2021, Conservação ao Quadrado, finnished the project of restoration of the Memorial monument of Odivelas Municipality. This project consisted in the deep treatment of the stone and metal elements, which were in very poor state. Covered with algae and black crost. It had a team of four technicians and lasted for three months.
A National Monument returns to C2
C2 is back at work with a National monument, which is very exciting a great privilege for us. More news coming soon!
Senhor Roubado tile panel
After the removal and preventive treatment for the tile panels of the Sr. Roubado monument in 2019 and the treatment and cleaning of stone elements of the standard in 2022, C2 returns to this iconic monument to restore the original panels. This project focuses on the museum style restoration of both tile panels. After that, they will be put on a museum placement in a new home, away from deterioration and nature’s elements.
Modernist panel of ceramist Relvas
C2 is in the process of totally restoring a magnificent modernist panel from the portuguese ceramist Relvas. Before it suffered an accident, it was in display at Coruche city hall. We’ve already removed all of the panel and it is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction and restorations.
Counts palace of Ribeira Grande
C2 has started a new project in the famous Lisbon palace of the Ribeira Grande counts which will last most of the year. During 2023, we will be restoring all stone elements, the noble stairs with its golden leaf decorated metallic elements, decorative paintings and plaster works.
